Calling all mermaids and Mermommas!
I have compiled a how-to for DIY jellyfish. Most supplies were found at the Dollar Tree, but a few items I had lying around.
Materials you will need:
- A Betty Crocker strainer
- Tissue Paper
- Party streamers
- Mod Podge
- Fishing string or any string
- Iridescence gift wrap paper
- Glue gun or any glue you have lying around
With the materials above I made three jellyfish. I had purchased three Betty Crocker strainers, however. Once you have everything you need you to start by putting Mod Podge the tissue paper to the strainer. Set aside and repeat as many jellies as you’d like.
Once the Mod Podge has dried you will put the Iridescence paper on it–if you decided to go with that look. I used hot glue around the edge of the strainer and wrapped it a little loose so it gave the appearance of two layers much like a jelly. Once this was finished and repeated, I would then take a needle, fishing thread and begin to thread the line at the top of the jelly. This will allow you to hang it when it’s done, as well as when you add the stingers.
Then hold the fishing line and cut the string and party streamers to your liking. I curled some of the ribbons to give the jelly more of the artistic look. I hot glued the inside of the strainer in the middle. Once that was completed, I hot glued pink tissue paper around the inside of the jelly. This gave it the final touches before hanging them! They are super lightweight so perfect for a ceiling.
I used hot glue to hang my jellyfish from the ceiling, but you may use whatever works for you!
