Our Story

 Two decades ago, our self-described “mom band” in the Loma Prieta area often played for kids participating in Theatre in the Mountains at their cast parties. The band called itself The Summit Sisters, since we all lived off of Summit Road. After playing for a Theatre in the Mountains fundraiser, the band had so much fun, we decided to try playing a few gigs off the mountain. Since those early days, some of the personnel within the band has changed, but Jeannie Niemann and Paula Leary have remained in the band to the delight of local fans. In 2016 our life changed with the addition of our lead singer Marisa Thompson. Her pipes and soulful voice stopped traffic at the 2017 Women's March in Santa Cruz. Since 2021, Casey Lelake arrived at Loma Prieta to teach music to our young people -- and to join the Sisters on percussion, and Sue Marvin joined the rhythm section on keyboards and bass guitar.
